The Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage and the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH)
On 21 April 2026, DaSCH and the DARIAH-CH GLAM WG hosted an online information session on how the European Union's emerging data spaces are reshaping access to — and reuse of — cultural heritage data. The presentation introduced the Common European Data Space for Cultural Heritage and the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), initiatives of the European Commission designed to support collaboration, data sharing, and digital research across the cultural heritage sector.
It explained how the these initiatives relate to the broader ecosystem of European data spaces, particularly its connections with the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and other domain-specific infrastructures. The talk highlighted key projects currently shaping the development and illustrates how they contribute to interoperable services, tools, and data environments for heritage research. Finally, it outlined opportunities and pathways for Swiss cultural and research institutions to engage with the initiative and participate in emerging European collaborations.
