DARIAH-CH is pleased to welcome the Swiss National Library (NL) as a new member of the national consortium. NL is represented in the consortium by Matthias Nepfer, Head of Innovation and Information Management.
The Swiss National Library collects “Helvetica” – Swiss texts, images and sounds – and with its collections safeguards the collective memory of Switzerland. In collaboration with other institutions, it facilitates extensive access to the cultural heritage of the country. As a central memory institution, the National Library bridges the past via the present to the future.
The accession of the Swiss National Library further strengthens DARIAH-CH’s mission to build an active and impactful national network that supports digitally enabled research and teaching across the arts and humanities in Switzerland. DARIAH-CH brings together universities, research infrastructures, academies, museums, libraries, and other cultural heritage institutions to advance Open Science, foster interoperability, and support the sustainable stewardship of digital resources.
With the addition of the Swiss National Library, DARIAH-CH continues to expand its community of institutions dedicated to advancing digital research infrastructures, FAIR and Open Science practices, and international collaboration within the European DARIAH ecosystem. Switzerland has been a full member of DARIAH ERIC since 2023, and the national consortium continues to grow as a platform for cooperation across the arts, humanities, and cultural heritage sectors.
A warm welcome to the NL and to Mattias Nepfer!
